Editorial Policy
Our Mission
30YearMortgageRates.com publishes data-driven mortgage rate analysis to help US consumers understand home financing markets. We are not a lender, broker, or financial advisor — we are an informational platform.
Our Methodology
We source primary rate data from Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS), published weekly on Thursdays, and supplementary data from the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) Weekly Applications Survey. Historical rate archives come from FRED (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis).
Regional and city-level rate adjustments are computed via a documented spread model that accounts for regional housing market variance. These adjustments are transparent, non-proprietary, and documented in our methodology page.
How We Update Pages
- National rate: updated weekly, coincident with Freddie Mac PMMS release
- State and city pages: rate information refreshed weekly, full content reviewed quarterly
- Loan-limit and regulatory content: refreshed annually per FHFA/HUD/VA/USDA publications
Fact-Checking
Every rate claim is tied to a primary dataset citation. Every legal or regulatory statement is verified against the most recent federal or state regulatory publication. Errors are corrected within 48 hours of discovery and logged publicly in our corrections log.
Reviewer Chain
Data-oriented pages are reviewed by at least one editor with mortgage industry credentials. Reviewer chain is documented on the /team/ page.
Editorial Independence
Editorial content is separated from advertising. Paid advertisers do not see article drafts, cannot influence rate analysis, and do not receive preferential coverage in editorial pieces. Our revenue model is flat-fee advertising — there is no per-lead or per-closing compensation, which removes financial incentive to steer editorial toward specific lenders.
Conflict of Interest
Editors do not hold equity in any advertising lender. Editors with prior employment at any advertiser disclose this in their author bio. 30YearMortgageRates.com has no financial relationship with Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, HUD, or any other rate data source beyond standard attribution requirements.
AI & Automated Content
Some content on this site is assisted by automated data pipelines (e.g., the weekly PMMS rate publisher). All automated content is reviewed by human editors before publication when it includes analytical or interpretive claims. Purely factual data feeds (current rate averages) may auto-publish without pre-review but are monitored for anomalies.
Corrections Policy
If you find an error, email corrections@30yearmortgagerates.com. We investigate within 48 hours. Confirmed errors are corrected in place with a timestamped correction note, and logged on the corrections page.
